2020 NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country All-Academic Athletes
The Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Individuals for the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country season were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Mercy Chelangat of Alabama was named the Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country season. Chlelangat, a junior from Kericho, Kenya, with a 3.686 GPA in Public Health, won the individual title last month at the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She is the first athlete in program history to earn this honor and is just the second in history from the Southeastern Conference.
Overall, there were 269 women who were named All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division I.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have either qualified for the national championship meet or finished top-5 at their respective conference championship.
