2021 NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 4

NEW ORLEANS – Not much changed this week regarding the NAIA’s top teams on the men’s side, according to the latest installment of the 2021 NAIA Men’s Indoor Track & Field National TFRI that released on Wednesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Indiana Tech remains No. 1 after posting five top-10 performances over the weekend which included a new No. 1 ranking in the 4×400 relay (3:14.96). The Warriors also had two marks inside the top five as senior Colby Bailey clocked a time of 6.81 to put him at No. 4 nationally in the 60, while junior Neville Smith also ranks No. 4 in the triple jump at 14.60m (47-10¾). Overall, Indiana Tech has 10 marks ranked in the top-five.
Dordt (Iowa) comes in at No. 2 for the second consecutive week. The Defenders own three No. 1 rankings as freshman Payton Mauldin and senior Matthew Van Eps lead the way in the 600 and 800, respectively. Mauldin also clocked a time of 48.71c (49.48) in the 400 over the weekend to put him at No. 8 nationally. The Dordt DMR squad continues to the country with a time of 7:44.56c (7:51.20).
Doane (Neb.) continues its No. 3 ranking for the second straight week after posting five top-15 marks. Sophomores Kalen Dockwiler and Sergio Arcos both posted No. 9 rankings in their respective events as Dockwhiler ran a 2:30.10c (2:32.17) in the 1000 and Arcos had a 7:08m (23-2¾) leap in the long jump. Junior Jacob Heitkamp continues his No.1 spot in the high jump clearing 2.17m (7-1½).
Concordia (Neb.) ranks No. 4 for the fourth consecutive week. The Bulldogs continue to hold down five nationally ranked top-five marks, including the fifth ranked 4×400 relay team as well as a Cody Williams’ third-ranked Heptathlon score of 5,030 points.
Saint Mary (Kan.) rounds out the top five for the third straight week. The Spires continue to own 10 top-10 rankings lead by senior Luke Skinner who has half of those marks (No. 2 in the 1000, No. 4 in the 800, No. 4 in the mile, No. 8 in the 3000 and No. 10 in the 5000).
The rest of the teams that make up the top-10 in Week 4 are No. 6 Friends (Kan.), No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 8 Hastings (Neb.), No. 9 Southeastern (Fla.) and No. 10 Taylor (Ind.).
Southeastern (Fla.) moved up four spots after junior Dario Carter ran 8.03 in the 60H to put him at No. 2 nationally and senior Zachary Nichols heaved the implement 18.38m (60-3¾) to put him at No. 9 nationally in the weight throw.
The 2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for March 4-6 in Yankton, South Dakota.
