2021 NCAA DI Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 1

NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas wasted no time hitting big marks this season.
The Razorbacks are ranked No. 1 in the first iteration of the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Track & Field National TFRI released on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the 12th time in the past three years that Arkansas has topped the National TFRI during the indoor season.

The Razorbacks are being chased by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Texas and No. 5 Alabama.
Arkansas boasts a whopping 21 top-10 marks nationally, including the top-3 spots in both the mile and 3000. Krissy Gear leads the Razorback contingent in the mile (No. 1, 4:38.22), with Logan Morris (No. 2, 4:39.01) and Lauren Gregory (No. 3, 4:39.05) shortly behind. In the 3000, Gregory owns the top time in 9:01.44, followed by Morris (No. 2, 9:09.45) and Katie Izzo (No. 3, 9:12.62). The Razorbacks also own the top time in the 4×400 (3:32.18). Other top performers come in the 400, 800 and pole vault.
The second-ranked Aggies come into the first iteration of the National Rating Index with nine top-10 marks. Leading the way is Athing Mu, who clocked the fifth-fastest performance in collegiate indoor history in the 800 with her NCAA-leading time of 2:01.07 in her collegiate debut. Texas A&M also has strong performances early on in the jumps: Deborah Acquah is No. 2 in the long jump (6.65m/21-10), while Tyra Gittens has the No. 2 mark in the high jump (1.87m/6-1½) and No. 3 in the long jump (6.62m/21-8¾).
Georgia owns nine marks that rank within the top-10, while five athletes sit within the top-5 of their respective events: Jasmine Moore (No. 2, 13.71m/44-11¾) and Titiana Marsh (No. 4, 13.48m/44-2¾) in the triple jump, while the high jump feature’s Anna Hall (No. 3, 1.86m/6-1¼) and Shelby Tyler (No. 5, 1.81m/5-11¼). On the track, Jessica Drop owns a pair of top marks in the mile (No. 4, 4:39.83) and the 5000 (No. 5, 16:13.93).
Texas is headlined with eight marks that rank in the top-10. Chanel Brisset clocked the top time in the 60 hurdles at the Wooo Pig Classic with an event-winning time of 8.07. The Longhorns have five other athletes that are ranked within the top-5 of their events: Kennedy Simon is No. 2 in the 400 (52.67), Julien Alfred is No. 4 in the 60 (7.27), Kynnedy Flannel is No. 3 in the 200 (23.09) and No. 5 in the 60 (7.29c), Kevona Davis is No. 5 in the 200 (23.26) and Tara Davis is No. 4 in the long jump (6.56m/21-6¼).
The Crimson Tide has seven athletes holding marks within the top-10 of their respective events. Tamara Clark is the owner of two of them, as she is ranked highly in the 60 (No. 3, 7.26) and 200 (No. 2, 22.90). Mercy Chelangat is ranked No. 2 in the 5000 (15:52.19), while the Distance Medley Relay is also slotted in at No. 2 (11:54.60).
The remaining top-10 teams for Week 1 are No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 LSU, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 Kentucky and No. 10 Minnesota.
The next National TFRI will be released on Monday, February 1 and continue until the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held March 11-13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
