2021 NCAA DIII Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3

NEW ORLEANS – It was moving week in the NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index!
Twenty-three of the top-25 teams shifted spots between Week 2 and Tuesday afternoon, when the Week 3 edition of the National TFRI was released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The only two teams that remained in place were top-ranked John Carroll and No. 10 Carnegie Mellon.

The Blue Streaks actually helped their cause this past weekend with three new or improved national top-10 marks. Garrett Clark and Deven Ward are now ranked third and fifth in the 200, respectively, while they also joined forces with two other teammates to clock an NCAA DIII-leading time in the 4×100 of 41.39.
Mount Union continued to climb, as it comes into Week 3 at No. 2. The Purple Raiders added four new or improved national top-10 marks to their ledger, including a national-leading effort from Jared Storm in the 400 (47.66). Mount Union also now has three of the top-8 marks in the high jump this season: Elijah Cobb is ranked third at 2.07m (6-9½); Tanner Slack is ranked fourth at 2.06m (6-9); Evan Herschberger is ranked eighth at 2.04m (6-8¼).
UW-La Crosse jumped one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 following a handful of strong efforts at the UW-Platteville Invitational this past weekend. Logan Larson is now ranked third nationally in the pole vault at 4.92m (16-1¾), while Jake Sullivan sits fourth in the 400 at 48.33.
Rowan is up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4 after some stellar performances at the Bill Butler Invitational. The Profs added two national top-10 marks to their ledger this past weekend after the 4×400 relay team went 3:15.86 for the No. 2 mark and Jah’mere Beasley clocked the eighth-fastest time nationally over 200 meters at 21.72.
Lynchburg dropped three spots from No. 2 to No. 5.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Wartburg, No. 7 Loras, No. 8 UW-Whitewater, No. 9 George Fox and No. 10 Carnegie Mellon.
The 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.
