2021 NCAA DIII Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 2

NEW ORLEANS – It got a little bit closer at the top of the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index. That’s bound to happen as more teams open up their seasons and we see a wider spread of marks on the Descending Order List.
Wartburg continues to hold down the No. 1 spot in the Week 2 edition, which was released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Knights are being chased by No. 2 John Carroll, No. 3 Loras, No. 4 Dubuque and No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan.

It’s easy to see why the Knights are still No. 1. Wartburg has put up 18 national top-10 marks, including a national leader in the high jump from Breya Christopher at 1.69m (5-6½). The Knights have multiple athletes ranked in the top-10 of the 400 (x2), 800 (x2), 3000 (x2), 5000 (x5) and triple jump (x2).
The Blue Streaks held steady at No. 2 with their 18 national top-10 marks. John Carroll is as balanced as can be, earning 11 of those top-10 efforts on the track and seven in the field. Right now the Blue Streaks have the top-2 athletes in the 5000 – Cameorn Bujaucius (No. 1, 18:11.92c/18:20.28) and Erica Esper (18:12.73c/18:21.09).
The Duhawks debuted this past weekend and find themselves in familiar territory. Loras locked in three national-leading marks: Marion Edwards in the 60 (7.77), Elayna Bahl in the 60H (9.07) and the 4×400 relay at 3:55.51c/3:58.63. Those are just three of 11 top-10 marks for the Duhawks through their first week of competition.
The Spartans remained at No. 4 following a strong weekend. Dubuque has 10 national top-10 marks on the Descending Order List, headlined by two in the field: Caroline Ferguson has the No. 1 mark in the shot put at 13.81m (45-3¼); Kaytlin Wilder has the top-ranked weight throw in the nation at 16.10m (52-10).
The Titans join the National TFRI for the first time this season at No. 5. Illinois Wesleyan took home 10 national top-10 marks this past weekend, including top-3 efforts in the 800 (Rebekah Harden, No. 3) and shot put (Ayana Blair, No. 3).
