2021 NCAA DIII Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3

NEW ORLEANS – Everything changed in Week 3 of the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index!
None of the top-5 teams in Week 2 remained in place in the most recent installment that was released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Those were just some of the alterations as more teams opened their season.

UW-La Crosse is now No. 1, followed by former No. 1 Wartburg at No. 2. John Carroll also dropped one spot to No. 3, as did Loras to No. 4. Central (Iowa) joins the top-5 for the first time this season at No. 5.
The Eagles flooded the Descending Order List this past weekend with huge marks. UW-La Crosse now holds 19 national top-10 marks, including national-leading efforts in the triple jump from Jessica Stelzner at 11.66m (38-3¼) and in the weight throw from Skye Digman at 16.96m (55-7¾). The Eagles have multiple top-10 marks in several events: 60 (x3), 400 (x2), 60H (x2), long jump (x2), triple jump (x2) and weight throw (x2).
The Knights made quick work of the competition this past weekend, specifically in the 400 and pentathlon. Wartburg notched two top-6 marks in the 400 from Jackie Ganshirt (No. 2, 58.46c) and Taylan Olson (No. 6, 58.85c) as well as three top-10 marks in the multi from Hailey Foxhoven (No. 3, 2694), Ryin Lehmann (No. 5, 2375) and Akyma Bush (No. 7, 1578).
The Blue Streaks bolstered their position with five national top-10 marks this past weekend. Lucia Cannata and Taylor Anthony hold down the No. 5 (7.84) and No. 6 (7.86) spots in the 60, Maria DeLuca and Olivia Hurtt are No. 4 (5.47m/17-11½) and No. 7 (16.26m/53-4¼) in the triple jump and weight throw, respectively, while the 4×400 relay is now ranked No. 10 on the Descending Order List.
Kassie Rosenbum made her debut in the mile for the Duhawks this past weekend and soared to the top of the Descending Order List. Rosenbum covered the distance in 4:56.67c and is also ranked among the national leaders in the 3000 at 9:43.63c.
The fifth-ranked Dutch started the season in a big way. Central (Iowa) has six national top-10 marks, including the top-2 marks in the pentathlon from Mary Gray at 3476 (No. 1) and Kiki Pingel at 3406 (No. 2), respectively.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Bethel (Minn.), No. 7 UW-Oshkosh, No. 8 Dubuque, No. 9 Baldwin Wallace and No. 10 Gustavus Adolphus.
Unfortunately, the 2021 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships were canceled due to low participation numbers among division members. The meet was scheduled to be held from March 12-13 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. We are still doing rankings until the end of the season, though.
