COLLEGIATE RECORD: Oregon's DMR Does It Again In Arkansas!

Collegiate records are fun.

You know what’s even better?

All-time world bests.

The Men of Oregon took down both in one fell swoop in the Distance Medley Relay on Friday night at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Oregon got the baton around in 9:19.42, shaving more than five seconds off its own previous collegiate record of 9:24.52, established last year at this same meet. The Ducks also lowered the all-time world best in the event from 9:19.93, set by Team USA on January 31, 2015.

Cole Hocker led things off for Oregon with a 2:49.89 split in the 1200. Hocker handed off to Luis Peralta, who turned two laps in 47.28 for the 400-meter split. Peralta gave the stick to Charlie Hunter, who split 1:47.65 for 800 meters and then Cooper Teare brought it home in 3:54.61.

Throughout much of the race, the Ducks were in a close battle with eventual runner-up Iowa State. Once Teare turned on the jets with 500 meters to go, everybody kept an eye on the clock, because Oregon was already well under record pace.
