2021 NJCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 3

NEW ORLEANS – Very few changes reverberated through the top-5 of the NJCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index in Week 3.
There was one minor switch among the nation’s elite as the most recent installment was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Cloud County CC remains No. 1 with Barton CC at No. 2. Iowa Central CC came in at No. 3, followed by new No. 4 South Plains College and new No. 5 Iowa Western CC.
The third-ranked Tritons drew closer to the second-ranked Cougars thanks to the efforts of Lilia Alvarez this past weekend. Alvarez clocked a time of 2:26.34 (2:24.68c) over 800 meters to take over the No. 7 spot on the NJCAA Descending Order List. Iowa Central now has three athletes ranked among the top-10 performers this season in the event.
The fourth-ranked Lady Texans added to their haul of top-10 marks. South Plains (Texas) can now say it has 15 efforts that list among the nation’s best. One of the biggest efforts from this past weekend came from Joniar Thomas in the long jump, as she took over the national lead with her 5.93m (19-5½) leap.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Cowley College, No. 7 Hawkeye CC, No. 8 Indian Hills CC, No. 9 Vincennes (Ind.) and No. 10 Fort Scott CC. The RedTails made the biggest jump in the top-10 as they flew five spots since Week 2.
Remember: The 2021 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 4-6 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
