2021 NCAA DIII Men's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 5

NEW ORLEANS – The winds of change swept through the NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index between Week 4 and Week 5.
Only three top-25 programs remained in place from the previous week, including each of the top-2 squads, when the most recent installment of the National TFRI was released on Tuesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

NOTE: In lieu of the canceled NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Wartburg College has created the DIII Elite Championships. Invited to compete on March 12-13 will be the regular season’s top-16 individuals and top-12 relays, as verified by TFRRS Descending Order List.
Top-ranked Wartburg continues to hold steady for the fifth consecutive week and is flanked by second-ranked UW-Oshkosh. Behind them, though, the next four programs flipped spots as former No. 4 Loras is now ranked third, former No. 3 UW-Whitewater is now ranked fourth, former No. 6 John Carroll is now ranked fifth and former No. 5 UW-La Crosse is now ranked sixth.
Got that? We’re not trying to make it too confusing.
If you’re wondering why the Knights and the Titans continue to headline the National TFRI, it’s because of the quality and quantity of their marks this season. Wartburg and UW-Oshkosh each have more than 10 marks that reside in the national top-10, including six and four, respectively, that were either added or improved this past weekend. The best mark of the bunch came from the Titans, as Jonathan Wilburn took over the national lead in the triple jump at 14.91m (48-11).
Mike Jasa had his hand in the fourth-ranked Duhawks’ success once again this past weekend. Jasa, who is the national leader in both the 400 (48.19c) and 800 (1:51.11c), anchored Loras’ 4×400 relay squad that improved its national-leading time of 3:14.64c (3:17.74) at the Liz Wuertz Invitational.
The Warhawks fell to no fault of their own. Actually, this past weekend, UW-Whitewater saw three athletes bolster their spots in the national top-10 in the triple jump: Curtis Pfeil at No. 4 (14.34m/47-0¾), Brayden Zettle at No. 7 (14.17m/46-6) and Shelvin Garrett at No. 9 (14.07m/46-2).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 5: No. 7 Mount Union, No. 8 UW-Stout, No. 9 Central (Iowa) and No. 10 Gustavus Adolphus. UW-Stevens Point finds itself right outside of the top-10 at No. 11 following a three-spot jump from Week 4.
