2021 NJCAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 5

It’s high time that we look at the most recent installment of the NJCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index, which was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The top-5 teams from Week 4 remained in the top-5 in Week 5, albeit in a different order: No. 1 Iowa Central CC is now followed by No. 2 South Plains College, No. 3 Cloud County CC, No. 4 Barton County CC and No. 5 Indian Hills CC.
Iowa Central CC strengthened its hold on the top spot of the National TFRI with two weeks to go until the NJCAA Indoor Championships thanks to some big efforts at the Region XI meet. The Tritons saw Jaheem Hayles take over the national lead in the 60H at 7.86 and Jarod Henderson make moves up to No. 3 in the weight throw at 17.01m (55-9¾).
South Plains (Texas) received a boost this past weekend from new or improved marks that reside in the national top-10. The Texans have shown dominance in both the 600 and high jump, where they have multiple athletes ranked among the top-6. Seydi Sall owns the NJCAA lead in the 600 at 1:19.34, while Romaine Beckford still holds the top spot in the high jump.
Cloud County CC kept pace with the top-2 teams thanks to several strong performances of its own at the Region VI Championships. Daniel Cope bolstered his national lead in the weight throw to 19.35m (63-6) and Andrew Betton seized the No. 1 spot in the heptathlon with 4736 points. The T-Birds also have each relay ranked among the top-5 performers this season.
Barton County CC added or improved eight national top-10 marks, which includes national-leading efforts from Tyrese Reid in the 800 at 1:52.03 and the 4×400 relay at 3:13.09. Two of eight marks came from the 200, where Caleb Boger (21.38) and Denzel Feagin (21.41) are now ranked second and third, respectively.
Indian Hills CC received a boost from its DMR squad that went 10:17.25c (10:25.63) for the third-best time this season at the NJCAA level.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 5: No. 6 Cowley College, No. 7 Iowa Western CC, No. 8 Coffeyville CC, No. 9 Northwest Kansas Tech and No. 10 Fort Scott CC.
The 2021 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 5-6 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
