2021 NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 5

NEW ORLEANS – The impacts of conference championship weekend rippled through the latest edition of the 2021 NAIA Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index, released Wednesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Six teams held onto their respective rankings from a week ago, with four of them coming in the top-5

No. 1 Indiana Tech, No. 2 Concordia (Neb.), No. 3 William Carey (Miss.), No. 4 Hastings (Neb.) and No. 5 Dordt (Iowa) claim the top spots in Week 5. The only change this week came from the Crusaders and the Broncos trading places.
William Carey continued to improve its standing in the National TFRI on the strength of five marks that rank within the top-10 nationally at the Carey Indoor Qualifier: Aniekeme Etim holds the national lead in the 60 (7.38); Fredricka Mckenzie is No. 3 in the 60 (7.51); Nevagant Jones is No. 3 in the triple jump (12.11m/39-8¾) and No. 8 in the long jump (5.67m/18-7¼). The aforementioned Jones was a contributing leg of the 4×400 that clocked the No. 3 time in 3:53.81.
Taylor (Ind.) climbed five spots in the rankings to No. 6 following competition at the Crossroads League Championships. Leading the way for the Trojans was the 4×800, who took over the national lead with a time of 9.22.38c (9:28.86). Olivia Schroder also clocked 17:31.25 (17:39.30) in the 5000 for the No. 4 time on the Descending Order List.
The biggest move in the top-25 was by No. 17 College of Idaho, improving 12 spots to make its first appearance in the National TFRI this season. The Yotes earned three top-10 nationally ranked marks at the Polar Vortex Classix, with Abbey Shirts contributing to two of them: Shirts ran the No. 6 time in the 1000 (2:57.65) and part of the 4×800 that clocked the fifth fastest time this season (9:30.43).
The 2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for March 4-6 in Yankton, South Dakota.
