2020 NCAA DI Women's Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 6

NEW ORLEANS – We are less than two weeks out from the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Remember: the NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will be back on LIVE TELEVISION for the first time since 2009 thanks to a joint effort of the USTFCCCA and ESPN. The meet will be on ESPNU and the ESPN App.
Here is the third edition of the Women’s Regional Rankings.

Great Lakes Region

There weren’t any changes to the order of the top-5 programs in the Great Lakes Region.
Michigan State and Michigan are in a tie for No. 1, followed by No. 3 Indiana, No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Wisconsin.

Mid-Atlantic Region

There were no changes to the order of the top-5 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
No. 1 Georgetown cemented its spot after winning the Spider Patriot Classic in a tiebreaker with UConn. The Hoyas placed three in the top-7, led by Sami Corman‘s first place finish.
No. 2 West Virginia continued to be chased by No. 3 Villanova, No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 Temple.

Midwest Region

There were no changes made to the top-5 of the Midwest Region.
No. 1 Minnesota remained the top team, followed by No. 2 Illinois, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Iowa State and No. 5 Tulsa. The Cowboys recently earned a 18-37 win over the Hurricane at the OSU Winter Open.

Mountain Region

The Mountain Region’s top-5 evolved since the last set of regional rankings.
The new No. 1 is New Mexico. The Lobos opened up their season at the Battle Born Collegiate Challenge with 60-85 victory over Stanford. Adva Cohen paced New Mexico with her sixth place finish, with the remaining four scorers finishing 10-12-15-17.
BYU fell to No. 2 with the jump by New Mexico. The Cougars won the team title at the West Coast Conference with 28 points. BYU placed it’s five scoring runners in the top-11, led by a 2-3 finish by Aubrey Frentheway and Anna Camp, respectively.
Northern Arizona improved to No. 3 following two strong outings on the grass circuit. The Lumberjacks recently won the team title at the Big Sky Conference Championships with 27 points. NAU also notched a third place finish at the Battle Born Collegiate Challenge, beating No. 4 Colorado by two points, 100-102.
No. 5 Colorado State improved by three spots after finishing seventh at Battle Born. Lily Tomasula-Martin was the top finisher for the Rams with a ninth place finish.

Northeast Region

There were a few changes to the order of the top-5 programs in the Northeast Region.
UConn is the new No. 1 team in the region following a four spot improvement from No. 5. The Huskies tied Georgetown at the Spider Patriot Cross Classic with 42 points, eventually finishing second after a tiebreaker. UConn was paced by Randi Burr’s fourth place finished as the Huskies had four of their scoring runners in the top-10.
With UConn’s rise, Boston College dropped to No. 2, followed by No. 3 Syracuse, No. 4 Providence and No. 5 Iona. The Gaels placed third at the Spider Patriot Classic.

South Region

No changes occurred to the order of the top-5 teams in the South Region.
Alabama and Georgia Tech remain at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, followed by No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Ole Miss and No. 5 Tennessee.

South Central Region

There weren’t any changes to the order of the South Central Region’s top-5.
Arkansas remains at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Texas, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Baylor and No. 5 Arkansas State.

Southeast Region

There were no changes to the top-5’s order in the Southeast Region.
NC State remained at No. 1, followed by No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Furman, No. 4 UNC and No. 5 Liberty.

West Region

There were some changes to the top-5 in the West Region.
Stanford remained at No. 1 after bolstering its spot with a second place finish at Battle Born. The Cardinal were highlighted by Ella Donaghu taking home top honors in Las Vegas.
Boise State is the new No. 2 after a fourth place showing at Battle Born, finishing behind New Mexico, Stanford and Northern Arizona. Tyler Beling and Olivia Johnson were the Broncos top finishers, completing the 6k circuit in fourth and seventh, respectively.
Portland improved to No. 3 in the region after finishing runner-up to BYU at the West Coast Conference Championships. Anna Pataki won the individual title to lead the Pilots, with Victoria Weir (No. 6) and Stella Gillman (No. 8) rounding out the representation for Portland in the top-10.
No. 4 Washington and No. 5 San Francisco remained steady to round out the top-5: The Huskies finished sixth in the team standings at Battle Born; The Dons placed third at the West Coast Conference Championships behind BYU and Portland.
