Grand Valley State cemented its spot as the top team after winning the program’s 22nd consecutive GLIAC title – a streak that dates back to 2000. The Lakers boast 20 top-10 nationally ranked performances and only improved upon many seasonal best efforts. Already owning the top time in the 200, Nicole Sreenan improved that mark to 23.70. Other Lakers that moved the mark are Judith Essemiah in the weight throw (No. 2, 19.99m/65-7), Angelica Floyd in the 60 (No. 4, 7.52), Klaudia O’Malley in the 3000 (No. 4, 9:30.16) and Jessica Gockley in the 3000 (No. 7, 9:32.59).
The second ranked Mavericks won the NSIC crown for the first time since 2017. Out of the five top-10 nationally ranked marks Minnesota State saw over the weekend, Denisha Cartwright accounted for three of them: Cartwright clocked 8.41 in the 60H, 24.10c (24.47) in the 200 and 7.52 in the 60. She ranks No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 in those events, respectively. Also earning improved season efforts are Ja’Cey Simmons in the 200 (No. 5, 24.34c/24.71) and Brea Perron in the weight throw (No. 9, 18.93m/62-1¼).
Central Missouri bolstered its spot at No. 3 after capturing the team title at the MIAA Championships. Madi Wulfekotter headlined the Jennies with a national leading clearance in the pole vault (No. 1, 4.22m/13-10). Kayla Goodwin moved up from No. 6 to No. 3 in the triple jump with a season best 12.52m (41-1). The 4×400 closed out the meet for the Jennies with the eighth fastest time this season (3:50.95).
UC-Colorado Springs improved one spot to round out the top-5 after capturing the RMAC title. The Mountain Lions earned four improved season best efforts that sit in the top-10 nationally on the Descending Order List: Hannah Meek in the triple jump (No. 4, 12.46m/40-10½); Layla Almasri in the mile (No. 5, 4:48.42c/4:55.28A); Riley McGrath in the mile (No. 9, 4:49.49c/4:56.37A). UCCS’s DMR also improved to No. 5 with a time of 11:37.34c (11:51.52A).
Here are the rest of the teams in the top-10 in Week 6: No. 6 Pittsburg State, No. 7 Colorado School of Mines, No. 8 Saginaw Valley State, No. 9 CSU Pueblo and No. 10 Tiffin.
