2021 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 2

NEW ORLEANS – Here is the second installment of the NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index for the 2021 season, as released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Only the top two teams remained steady in the National TFRI following one of the busiest weekends of the season.

Concordia (Neb.) will remain at No. 1 for the second straight week. The Bulldogs turned in 15 top-10 nationally ranked performances at the Bronco Invite, with four of them being the best mark in the NAIA: Josie Puelz in the pole vault (3.95m/12-11½), Adrianna Shaw in the shot put (14.27m/46-10), Erin Painter in the discus (48.75m/159-11) and Elizabeth Stottlemyre in the javelin (45.13m/148-1). Shaw also has a pair of No. 2 rankings in the discus (46.03m/151-0) and hammer throw (54.00m/177-2). What’s even more impressive for the Bulldogs is that they have six of the top-10 nationally ranked marks in the discus.
Southeastern (Fla.) comes in at No. 2 for another week and claimed five top-10 nationally ranked efforts from five different athletes at the Spikes Classic: Jaqual Bush in the 100 (No. 6, 11.93); Amaya Kier in the 100H (No. 6, 14.51); Michelle Tierney in the heptathlon (No. 8, 3866); Shaniya Berry in the 100 (No. 10, 12.06), Princess Nwankwo in the discus (No. 10, 43.78m/143-8).
Wayland Baptist (Texas) jumped up one spot to No. 3. The Pioneers notched seven top-10 nationally ranked performances between the WTAMU Joe Meaker Classic and Multi and the David Noble Relays. Coshan Campbell paces the team with her new national leading efforts in the 400 (55.80) and 800 (2:14.24c/2:14.69A). Safia Bright improved to No. 2 in the 100 (11.61w), while Cheyenne Hill-Johnson moved to No. 5 in the 100 (11.91w) and No. 6 in the 200 (24.56cw/24.49A). Bright and Campbell were also part of the 4×400 that clocked the No. 1 time (3:49.09c/3:48.65A).
William Carey (Miss.) also improved a spot to come in at No. 4 this week. The Crusaders saw two strong showings from Fredricka McKenzie and Nevagant Jones at the Southern Miss Invitational. McKenzie ran the No. 3 time in the 200 (24.33), which pairs well with her No. 4 time in the 100 (11.83). Jones is No. 5 in the triple jump after her 12.12mw (39-9¼). The Crusaders now have seven performances that sit in the top-5 on the Descending Order List.
Indiana Tech fell two spots to No. 5 to round out this week’s top teams and were idle. The Warriors have eight top-10 nationally ranked marks following their first weekend of competition.
