2021 NJCAA DI Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 2

NEW ORLEANS – Only three top-10 teams remained in place between Week 1 and Week 2 of the NJCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index.
Let’s take a look at what transpired following a busy weekend, according to the most recent National TFRI released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

New Mexico JC is the new No. 1 program thanks to a weekend that saw it add or improve upon 14 national top-10 marks. The T-Birds, who were ranked No. 2 in Week 1, received national-leading efforts from Flomena Asekol in the 1500 (4:30.12c), Kimeone McLeod in the 100H (13.68c), Victoria Villanueva in the pole vault (3.52m/11-6½) and Luisarys Toledo in the heptathlon (5251).
Former No. 1 South Plains (Texas) is now ranked No. 2. The Lady Texans added or improved upon 11 national top-10 marks. South Plains (Texas) saw a few national leaders come out of the weekend: Rosemary Chukwuma in the 100 (11.23w) and the 4×100 relay (45.29). Joniar Thomas amassed 5132 points in the heptathlon to cement her No. 2 standing in the NJCAA.
Third-ranked Barton County CC held steady from Week 1. Out of the 21 national top-10 marks that the Cougars have, they added or improved 10 of them this past weekend. Kayan Green and Lashanna Graham gave Barton County CC a pair of national-leading marks in the 800 (2:11.94c) and 400H (58.50c), respectively.
Iowa Central CC inched up to No. 4, a one-spot improvement from Week 1. The Tritons now have 20 national top-10 marks, including a new national leader from Victoria Adu in the hammer throw at 59.71m (195-11). Ashley Micheaux made sure Adu wasn’t alone in the top-5 nationally as she notched the No. 4 mark with her 56.31m (184-9) heave.
Cloud County CC holds down the No. 5 spot following a one-spot drop. The T-Birds have 17 national top-10 marks, which includes a new No. 2 mark from Marie Forbes in the discus at 47.97m (157-5). Cloud County CC also features the No. 5 (Leonie Beu), No. 7 (Isila Apkup) and No. 8 (Pamela Milano) athletes at 400 meters.
