Cloud County CC headlines the National TFRI and received its best ranking in program history, easily eclipsing the previous best of No. 4 set in Week 5 of 2019. It’s easy to see why the T-Birds have been charted so favorably by the formula: Cloud County CC owns 22 top-10 marks nationally, including No. 1 marks in the 60 and 200 from Mercy Ntia-Obong, the 600 from Pamela Milano, the 1000 from Ludjenie Mondesir, the mile from Patricia Koma as well as the shot put from Marie Forbes in addition to the 4×400 relay team.
Iowa Central CC is ranked No. 2 with a plethora of talent to make a run at its first national title since 2016. The Tritons have 22 national top-10 marks, including top-ranked athletes in the 60H (Hannah Connwell) and weight throw (Victoria Adu), as well as the 4×800 relay and DMR. Connell is also ranked second in the 60 and fourth in the 200.
Iowa Western CC holds down the No. 3 spot in Week 1 for its best ranking in program history, topping the No. 4 spot it was in seven times between 2015 and 2017. The Reivers have 18 marks that rank among the national top-10, including nation-leading efforts in the high jump from Aliyah McNeil and the long jump from Victory George.
Barton County CC is ranked fourth to begin the season for the second consecutive year. The Cougars, who last won a national title in 2019, have a ton of quality marks with 12 top-5 efforts in the books. Annia Ashley, Nia Robinson and Ana Da Silva are all ranked among the top-5 in two different events: Ashley and Robinson in both the high jump and triple jump; Da Silva in the shot put and weight throw.
Indian Hills CC rounds out the top-5 with its best ranking in program history. The Warriors have 14 national top-10 marks with a litany of them coming in the sprints. Kahliyah Anderson is the top-ranked Indian Hills CC athlete with her national-leading mark in the 400 (57.96). Anderson is also a member of the third-ranked 4×400 relay.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 1: No. 6 Fort Scott CC, No. 7 Hawkeye CC, No. 8 Cowley College, No. 9 Vincennes and No. 10 Highland CC.
